There is a wide variety of security systems on the market that can be installed on our aluminum windows, whether we want to do so at the time of construction or add them later. Here we tell you all the weak points that you will need to reinforce on the window or take into account during installation.
Which windows are used to enter a home?
The windows most commonly used by intruders to gain access to a home are:
- Basement and roof windows, skylights.
- Windows and balconies that are easy to access and climb.
- Doors leading to terraces.

Be aware that all glass can be broken. But when it comes to security, the harder you make it for intruders, the better. Therefore, investing in this type of glazing, which is highly impact-resistant and requires considerable physical effort to break, is always a good option.
Laminated glass consists of at least two sheets of glass joined together across their entire surface. In the event of breakage, these sheets ensure that the broken pieces remain in place and do not create gaps.
Security lock and keyed handle.
This system consists of a keyed handle that protects against typical glass-breaking attacks. The prices of this fitting can vary between $250 and $400. It is an intermediate option if you are looking for a security window with anti-burglary locks that are a little more expensive.
Window alarm.
With this type of alarm, you will know as soon as possible when a window is being attacked. There are two types of window alarms: the first are infrared detectors that are installed on the outside of the window gap, and the second are magnetic detectors installed on the inside of the window frame. Although the latter are not recommended for intrusion or theft, they can be a good alternative if you have children at home.
Security blinds.
This window security system is often recommended as it is even more effective than bars.

If our need is focused on reducing domestic accidents as much as possible, we could opt for child safety locks for sliding aluminum windows. These prevent children from opening the window fully. They are attached to the window frame or sash and can be activated and deactivated manually, as required. There is another type of lock for aluminum tilt windows that has a key lock.
On the other hand, the most classic option, which can complement those mentioned above, is to install security bars in the home, although this will depend on your aesthetic tastes and the height of your home.
